Gump’s has collaborated with the legendary designer, Eva Zeisel, who’s illustrious career spans over four decades and includes many prestigious honors.  In 1942, Ms. Zeisel was selected by the Museum of Modern Art in New York to design a line of fine porcelain dinnerware for the Castleton China Company of Pennsylvania; in 2004, was named an Honorary Royal Designer by the Royal Designers for Industry, London as part of the Royal Society of Arts (the highest award given to a non-British subject).

Kathleen, our in-house Registry Maven

Our in-house Registry Manager, Kathleen R., has been providing personalized, expert Registry guidance services to newlyweds for over 15 years.

We sat down with Kathleen to have her share some Registry and Pre-Wedding Advice:

When starting a Registry, where should the couple begin?

China is the center of your table setting. Select a pattern you love today and don’t worry if you will love it in 15-20 years.

We want you to love and be passionate about your pattern, making sure it reflects your unique taste. It is more important to use your china than store it and regret your choices down the road. If you love it, you will use it.

What should newlyweds consider when choosing Stemware?

Fine crystal stemware adds sparkle, fire and romance to your table. It is the finishing touch, so choose your crystal to complement your china and silver.

Mix and match to give flare to your table setting.
Stemware consists of:

* Goblets (use for red wine)
* White Wine Glasses
* Iced Beverage Glasses
* Champagne Flute

Why should people register for gifts?

Discussing money can be uncomfortable. But it’s important in selecting the items for your registry. We suggest offering gift options from $50 to $1,000. Some of your guests may decide to pool their resources for a big gift, while others may want to buy something smaller and more personal. By providing your guests with several options, you’ll be sure to make everyone happy.

Remember, this is the one time in your life when friends and family want to spend money on you. Everyone loves getting a great wedding gift for a friend. Think outside the box and enjoy your wish list.

Jaime Hayon for Baccarat Trunk Show

We are thrilled to welcome Jaime Hayon, known as the Almodóvar of design to Gump’s this coming September.  Hayon has created a new collection for Baccarat: The “Crystal Candy Set” collection consists of nine signed, numbered, limited edition pieces. There are only 25 of each design.

The names chosen by Jaime Hayon evoke imaginary candies such as Piña Passion, Blackberry Freeze, Nuclear Pomegranate, and Jelly Copper to name a few. Mr. Hayon aligns the classic style of Baccarat’s crystal with ceramic and new textures. An integration of an uncommon personality and crystal.

San Francisco and Florence, Italy based artist Maria Olivieri Quinn is showcasing her new paintings at the Gump’s San Francisco store. Shown above is “Yellow Banner,” 48″ x 48″, Oil and Alkyd on Canvas.

Recent paintings continue a penetrating investigation of color that she is known for by using arresting banner/ribbon/folded paper-like images to explore the illusion of three-dimensional depth and space.
